Bio: I started training at the academy in June 2003. I'd seen the banner outside, and my friend asked me if i'd go with him. Having always having
had a great interest in martial arts i agreed. From the moment I walked in I was made to feel welcome and had made my mind up to join before I
had even finished my introductory lesson.

I fell in love with the unique style and consequently expressed my interests in possibly teaching it in the future and despite my age I became an
assitant instructor the following May.

The experience gained from teaching at the academy cemented my desire to become a teacher. As a result I am studying a degree in
mathematics with the hopes of a resultant career as a primary school teacher.

Before i started at the academy I was a very shy and introvert person. Had it not been for my friend asking me to go with him I probably never
would have taken those first steps into the gym. Something I realise now how glad I am that I did.

Within a few months of training my confidence grew exponentially. I found myself talking to people I wouldn't have previously. These days my old
school friends hardly recognise me, and my friends at University are sometimes shocked at just how outgoing and vibrant I am.
After only 2 months of training I trashed my personal best score on the school fitness test and only continued to increase my physical prowess. I
amazed myself when in July 2006 on I passed my 1st Dan after a gruelling hour and a half grading. But don't get me wrong, it was an amazing
feeling when i finished.

Over 4 1/2 years later the only regret I have is that I didn't start training sooner than I did.
I've made so many friends as a result of the academy and those first few steps. Training has changed my life and i urge everyone to just come in
and have a go, whether your a little shy or just want something to do with your time.
